People of Thotapalli area in Vizianagaram district are trying to stop construction of Thotapalli barriage replacing old Thotapally regulator. People are alleging that government is not giving adequate compensation to the people whose lands will be submerged in water by new barriage.

Thotapally regulator was constructed by Britishers and it is too old. Constructing barriage at Thotapally is good idea. But they should not ignore the people who lose their agricultural lands by that barriage.

Water storage capacity of Thotapally regulator is less. Barriage must be constructed at Thotapally. But government should not ignore about people who loose lands by that barriage. Local MLA Kolaka Lakshmana Murthy is doing good thing by demanding adequate compensation to people who are going to loose lands

Even after 2 years nothing changed. Not even 10% of the project is done. People are yet to be compensated. If it is T they will make so much fuss as if it is sacrosanct. The truth is that all regions are suffering equally, perhaps the northeast more than others.
