| Government is again going to start cloud seeding. Government planned for cloud seeding in Anantapur and Rangareddy districts. In past government done cloud seeding but it was done only in day time. Cloud seeding must be done in night time also. _________________ People who know much about science become rationalists, people who know much about society and economy become communists and people who have more intrest on cinemas & TV than other issues are useless fellows. |

| The cloud seeding programme which will be launched on Tuesday to augment rains in the 10 rainfall deficit districts of the State will be different when compared to the last year’s attempt.
The State government will conduct warm cloud seeding with the help of low flying aircrafts which will seed low lying rain-bearing clouds for a period of 123 days during monsoon. Rainfall deficit districts including Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Medak, parts of Prakasam and Nellore have been identified for cloud-seeding this year.|
Apart from this, experts point out that they will use enhanced cloud condensation nuclei (salt particles) of larger size as compared to last year to further enhance the chances of rain. Last year officials used salt particles half the size of a micron and this year the diameter of each salt particle would be around five to 10 microns which is a quantum jump.
Experts aver that with the help of enhanced size of condensation nuclei or salt particles and by using three low-flying aircrafts, low-lying clouds can be seeded that will result in better rainfall.
Figures from the department of Rain Shadow Areas Development state that last year’s cloud seeding programme produced 78.6922 TMC of rain. Joint secretary for Rain Shadow Areas Development Department M.C. Pargien, said that the changes effected in the operation were expected to bring down more rain.
Flares packed with silver iodide will not be used this time. Instead the salt particles will be directly sprinkled from the aircraft. Cloud-seeding expert Mr J.V.M. Naidu said this was the right time for conducting the operation. “We have fine-tuned the strategy appropriately,” he said.
Two special radars have been installed at Ibrahimpatnam and Anantapur to predict the arrival of rain-bearing clouds. Met stations from Chennai, Machlipatnam and Visakhapatnam will also be asked to help out. _________________ In India rich people become more rich and poor people become more poor.
