| Is film industry more responsible than politicians in promoting drinking among public?
There is a serious verbal duel, first between Sharukh Kahn and Union Health minister Ramdoss on the influence of movies in encouraging smoking, and later between Amitabh and Ramdoss, when the later accused film industry of setting wrong examples, effectively promoting drinking among public. Ramdoss's unique penchant to create controversy doesn't need introduction. Who can forget his ego and his authoritarianism in harassing Mr Venugopal, the former director of AIMS. However, Ramdoss has point here. The responsibility and influence of media in smoking, drinking or other social maladies are well documented.
On the other hand can a Pot call Kettle black?. That is what this boils down to. These politicians are making a mockery of our electoral process with large scale distribution of free liquor for votes, and then asking media to be more responsible. They create lopsided budgets depending so heavily on excise duty on liquor. In fact tacitly the state govt encourages people to drink more, lest the govt will be in serious fiscal deficit.
In any case both parties are responsible for the current situation and both need to address the issue. Accusing each other will not help.

| One person said that he requested his fellow passenger in train not to smoke and drop the cigarette while he was traveling. He also suggested that smoking is injurious to health. Then the smoker replied "If smoking is really injurious to health, he should first suggest the government to close cigarette factories and then suggest him to drop cigarette". Why do cigarette smokers stop smoking if cigarettes are easily available in market, as they are openly licensed to sell? _________________

| I say Yes. This is because there are lots of uneducated youth you easily get attracted to film stars. And there is nothing more crazier than blindly following and mimicking film stars in real life too. _________________ I like Tomorrow...
