| The income levels of people have changed a lot over the past few years. I guess it is time to revisit and revise the slabs (like they did for the Income tax this year ) when it comes to deciding into what class a person or his family will come into.
I am not that aware of international norms in deciding the class of the person based on his income level but they drastically differ from country to country. This is because of the currency parity amongst other factors. We would get a normal average cuppa coffee at Starbucks for $1 in the US. Visit to Coffee Day and we get a high class cuppa coffee for Rs. 40. Now an average middle class person would use the same Rs. 40 for his lunch while a lower class family will have their daily food for the entire family for the same Rs. 40. _________________ I like Tomorrow...

| In my district, agricultural workers earn averagely Rs 50 per day. In our district head quarter town, a chicken pizza costs Rs 55. Cost of daily life of a poor person not even equals to a pizza eaten in middle class restaurant. Nothing progress happened in lives of poor people. Construction workers in our district head quarter town earns Rs 70 per day. Prawns biryani costs Rs 75 in that town. Cost of daily life of construction workers not even equals to prawns biryani eaten in middle class restaurant in the town. Very clear antagonism is visible between middle class and proletarian class. Without solving the question of class antagonism, we cannot say that society is progressed. _________________

| In my oinion the classes which we are talking are relative. A middle class in mumbai has a flat of 40-50lacs and a maruthi, But in srikakulam the middle class person owns a bicycle and a rental house. Governments cannot declare the class by just monthly earnings. In my opinion there is no systematic classification in india. In this country it may even difficult to do it because of more freedom people are enjoying since last 6 decades. _________________ STATESMAN |

| Even Mumbai has world's dirtiest slums like Dharavi where rent is Rs 200 per single room but also has middle class flats that cost Rs 10,000 per month. Such kind of differences are even seen within small towns like Srikakulam. A shop near RTC complex in Srikakulam costs rent of Rs 8,000 per month and Rs 2 lakhs advance but a shop in a slum area named Relli veedhi, hundreds of yards far from the same location costs Rs 2,000 rent and 10,000 advance. _________________
