US Universities and JOB Opportunities

IMO, there are only two reasons why somebody should apply for US universities.

1.Even now US universities are the best in the world in advanced research. If you are planning to do PHD in any subject, particularly, in Genetic and Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Nanotechnology, Alternate fuel cell technology, Advanced computing such as intelligent search engines and advanced data mining, then US is the place.

2.If you want to settle in US. With lot of backlash to immigration due to high unemployment in US, the resulting compromise between opposing forces of pro immigration and anti immigration will force more and more H1 visas be limited to students with advanced degrees from US universities. Having a degree in US and being in US will increase the chances of a person getting H1 visa than someone in India trying to get it through an Indian company.

For other scenarios, there are plenty of opportunities in India. However instead of getting tempted to Rs 20-50k/ month salary, it is better to do master degree either in MSC or MBA or MCA or M Tech in India.

The level of education at under graduate level for vast number of colleges in India and in AP is abysmally low. It is too generalized and too shallow. Mostly it is related to poor teaching. The teacher's performance may not be any better at Post graduate level, but it gives student a more self directed education in advanced curriculum for another 18 to 24 months. It provides an environment for strong reflection of what student would like to do. Just my thoughts.
