It is surprising to note that the Temple authorities at Bhadrachalam are trying to make the entire concept of kalyanam a commercial event. It may be recalled few other large size temples have already started this trend.

I don't know the financial strength of Badrachalam Devasthanam. But I'm surprised to know that this year they are planning to sell yellow rice used in kalyanam.

Thats true. What is even more surprising is that they are sold at Rs. 50 per small packet (dont know the quantity). The price of course including postal charges.

Another surprising thing is that there is increased importance of boosting to Endowments Department in the television commentary. I overheard the commentator calling Devadaya Dharmadaya Saakha as Deva Aadhaya meaning the department which takes care (or rather has right over) earnings of the god - lol
