Naxalite activities increased in other states though they declined in Andhra Pradesh. One central government officer estimated that naxalite activities may increase upto 33% nation wide, especially in tribal belts.

One of the best achievement of this Govt got to be the control of Moaist menace and their violence. Lot of credit goes to the low profile Home minister Mr Jana Reddy for keeping complete faith in the police dept. They are well informed now than what they were 4 years ago, and with greyhound forces better equipped to fight them. Their morale is all time high.

Perhaps they are little lucky to be at right place at right time as the cycle of violence perpetrated by maosits reached a level that people started resenting it and was bound to decline. Also the improvement of economic conditions in the last 4 years compared to the previous years eroded the support base for the maoists. The biggest achievement for the state is the number of maoists deserting the movement with very little intake.

Seeing incidents in just one state(Andhra Pradesh) and making nation wide estimations is ridiculous. Central government officers said that around 65% of Maoist activities were reported in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. Salva Judum failed to control Maoist activities in Bastar because Maoists raided Salva Judum base camps and helped tribals to flee away from those camps. Bihar government is unable to pay salaries to special police forces and they are unable to control Maoists and Ranveer Sena. In West Bengal, Maoists gained some sympathy by opposing Nandigram and Singur violences directed by left colored right-wing government of Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
