Sun FM, the third FM channel in the city that operates on 93.5 MHz frequency, launched its operations on Tuesday. The city already has on air two FM channels, Radio Mirchi on 98.3 MHz and All India Radio’s Rainbow Krishnaveni on 102.2 MHz.

Muthu Saravanan, head of Andhra Pradesh circle in Sun FM, said that the company was already operating in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati, and would soon be going on air in Rajahmundry and Warangal. With a total of six stations in Andhra Pradesh, 93.5 SFM would be able to boast of having the largest FM Radio network in the State, he claimed.

Introducing the team of young and vivacious RJs, he said 75 per cent of the content would be music or music-related. The station would focus on latest Telugu releases, interviews with celebrities, fashion, entertainment and lifestyle. Those calling the station (on phone number 6639935) in the first 10 days would be given gold coins. Silver bowls would be given to the callers in the next 10 days.

Beginning the day with Omkaram at 5 a.m., the station would churn out entertaining series that would take the listeners on a roller coaster ride, he said. Besides routine wake-up calls like ‘Good Morning Vijayawada’ and ‘Morning Mantra’, programmes like ‘Tellarindoi Mama’, ‘Free Home Delivery’ would give the daily dose of entertainment.

Women could bank on programmes like ‘Kitty Party’ while movie buffs would have to tune in to programmes like ‘Bejawada Talkies’. ‘Lovology’ and ‘Popcorn Time’ would have the younger lot glued to the programmes, he maintained. Srinivas, station head, Vijayawada and others were present.
