It is amazing that Satyam, in our own backyard, is developing a platform like this. This virtual vehicle development platform (VVDP) with code name Hera, can not only design futuristic cars but also the plants that manufacture these cars. It even integrates procurement, inventory control etc into the overall process. It is said in this article 'Satyam readies to roll out dream car Hera' that it borrowed the concepts from Aerospace Industry, but everything else is indigenous.

Leaving aside this project, in general, this is the area that India has more potential. Product design and Product development will take India to the next level. It is the collaboration of manufacturing industry with knowledge based industry that will propel India to get a bigger share of the global economy.
