VIJAYAWADA: Popular readymade garments showroom Cherma’s opened its first outlet in the city on Mahatma Gandhi Road on Thursday. It is the eighth outlet of the store in the country.

The store, which became popular in Hyderabad for its range of readymade dresses for all sections of society at an affordable price, has created a shopping space spread over 15,000 sq. ft at a site adjacent to Hotel D.V. Manor.

On the occasion of opening the store in the city, the management will be giving daily prizes in the form of Cherma’s garment coupons worth Rs.2,700, Rs.1,800 and Rs.999 each and a weekly prize of Yamaha Gladiator motorcycle, all till Sankranti.

Besides, the store will also be giving customers lucky coupons on every purchase of Rs.333, which will give them a chance to win cars, bikes, gold, silver, washing machines, refrigerators, televisions and microwave ovens in the last of the four mega draws, scheduled to be held on January 27, 2008.

Cherma’s started its operations in a small space of 400 sq. ft on Abid Road in Hyderabad in 1980, and went on to expand its operations to three other outlets in the capital – Secunderabad, Ameerpet and Malakpet. The first showroom outside Hyderabad was opened in April 2006 at Aurangabad in Maharashtra, while the sixth one was opened at Kukatpally in Hyderabad in August 2006. Its seventh outlet, which was also the first in Andhra Pradesh outside Hyderabad, was opened in August this year at Visakhapatnam.

Chermas seems to be increasing its network pretty fast. Glad the increasingly new showrooms are making clothes more affordable.
