| For me, the presence of Visakhapatnam in both the lists surprises. Visakhapatnam badly lacks in infrastructure. There is lots of land available that needs to be converted into such a way that IT and BPOs to use. I think Vizag name will only be in the news until something like Hitech city building is build in Vizag so that multiple small/medium IT majors can open their shop. _________________ I like Tomorrow...

Yes, probably you are right. However some of the IT companies ate coming up with their own infrastructure on the BEACH IT HILLS project. But atleast a couple of well planned IT towers are needed for boosting smaller IT companies, and the transportation facilities too. Kochi as a green field airport, Vizag doesnt even have a good domestic airport. Govt. needs to address these with one go!!! |

| Webgeek,
That is an excellent point. Unless some high-tech towers catches the imagination of IT experts around the world, things will continue to progress at snail pace. I can relate this back to the IT towers in Hyderabad and the explosive media coverage. Don’t expect anything from state govt. I really hope the new GVMC admin will take it seriously and commit to this project even if it cost them RS 100 crores. We just threw Rs 300 crores for Godavari water scheme with hardly any results, what more damage another Rs 100 crores can do?.
Bommasaniv,
Your point about airport is valid. However, with current expanded runway, barring some terrible misfortune like the one we heard today about the flaws in the runway, we may be alright for another 4-5 years. I hope the Rs 50 crore plan to protect the airport from flooding don’t end up like the runway project. Next 1-2 years is very critical for Vizag planners. The window of opportunity is wide open but not for long. |
