TTD decided to ban onions and garlic (vellulli) in Tirumala because they generate strong smell like non-veg food. In past, they banned taming hens and cocks in Tirumala. They want to pass orders even on commercial restaurants not to use onion or garlic in any kind of food served by them. They are even trying to suppress food freedom of people by name of religion. Indians use onions in many kinds of foods. Banning onions will really cause problem to people of that town and visitors of that town.

True to an extent. It would be unfair to ban them in the whole of the region. Rather they would have defined some territories or an area round the sanctum where it would be prohibited.

I cant understand this present trend of over religiosity. Forget onions it was unethical on behalf of TTD to ban non-veg food on Tirumala hills. There were hundreds of people living on Tirumala for centuries who were eating non-veg food. ANd that did not reduce the sanctity of the temple is it not ? In MP I heard uma bharati has banned meat in an entire bristling town.

Dr Jha wrote a book proving that Indians used to eat cow beef in vedic age. That book was banned when BJP was in power. Some Sri Vaishnavas do not even eat onion and garlic because they generate strong smell like non-veg food. People who are interested in such practice can limit those practices to their homes. What is the need of banning them even in non-vaishnava houses and commerical restaurants? Muslims and jews do not eat pig pork but eating pig pork is permitted for non-muslims in 14 islamic countries. Some islamic fundamentalists are better than Tirumala-Tirupati vaishnava fundamentalists.
