200 retired Engineers to be recruited
To complete the development of new tanks
Hyderabad, March 2, 2007
The State Government has decided to recruit 200 retired engineers in Minor Irrigation Department to complete development works of new tanks and restoration of old ones. The engineers will be recruited on contract basis for one year with a salary of Rs. 12,000 per month. The Government has issued a GO to this effect.
The Minor Irrigation Department with the funds from NABARD, JBIC, AIBP and the World Bank is engaged in restoration of tanks in the districts. The State Government transferred 60,000 panchayat raj tanks to the Minor Irrigation Department to speed up the process.
Out of the sanctioned strength of 1000 Assistant Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers, the department is presently having 650 engineers. The Minor Irrigation department is facing shortage of another 350 engineers.
