Bangalore vs Hyderabad

Recent articles and blogs on Bangalore are more devoted to the problems that Bangalore is having these days. Here are some interesting quotes:

"Bangalore is a national calamity in terms of infrastructure," said Azim Premi, CEO of Wipro Ltd.

"Some years back it was just bad roads, but now it's irregular power, blocked drains and mismanaged transport, The distance that took us just 10 minutes to go over a few years back, now takes at least an hour. It is putting pressure on costs" said T. Kurien, CEO of Wipro's BPO unit.

"Bangalore's challenge is that it has grown at 12% a year over the last decade in terms of gross domestic product [GDP], which makes it the fastest growing city in the country, but the infrastructure has obviously not kept pace. The civic administration collects $3 billion as taxes from the residents and corporate sector -- but has sanctioned just over $200 million out of it for improvement of the city", says Mohandas Pai, CFO at Infosys

Now that Hyderabad is also moving with that pace, days are not far for Hyderabad to get the same kinds of blame.

Now the question of the hour is,

1. What should the Government (and its various departments) and the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad do in order to avoid that kind of blame?

2. What is that the Corporate companies that are establishing their companies in Hydrabad do as a part of this?

Do you think the current ORR, International Airport, inner RR answers your questions (though answers a year later than your questions)? What other differences/improvements you noticed during the past one year to answer your questions. Perhaps you might have more answers or more questions now. Please update.

The government should persuade R&D companies to set up their offices in other developing cities or towns of andhra pradesh.
Personally I feel that, most of the people in R&D don't require much client interaction. These R&D guys do have conf calls, but that is not a problem as long as we have internet and telecommunications.
Also, I see good number of Andhrapradesh guys (andhrites) are working in R&D organizations. The local Municipal authorities should come forward to support them. We might then solve this problem in Hyderabad or other metropolitan cities.

Does this make sense?
