| The suspense is over. The location of the IIT has been finalized and its around Isnapur near the Ordinance factory in Medak. The union Human Resources mnistry has approved the decison and is supposed to invest around 1800 crores into this Mother of all Institutions. The state government is to provide the land at no cost, so the process of identifying the lands has begun.
This is probably the greatest day in the history of us, we needed this temple of Indian pride for the natural abilities we pocess and to the contribution we made for a long time.
All the credit goes to the best CM the state which consists of Telangana and Andhra-seema regions ever had - CHANDRABABU NAIDU. Hats off to him for being a visionary and acheiving something which no Cheif Minister in Independent India could acheive or even think of. And here we have replaced a man who is known for his factionist past and having done nothing during the past 2-3 years, in addition even lost the VW and is on the verge of doing the same to FAB city.
Lets celebrate the arrival of IIT and commemorate the new year bash to this greatest occasion after Independence. |

| In the light of Arjun Singh statement that HRD ministry has no influence on selection of location for new IIT within the state is very intriguing. It appears the only communication from HRD ministry is sanctioning of new IIT to AP state, and apparently there was no condition that it has to be close to any major city. All they need is 600 acres of land with all roads and amenities. I don’t doubt this theory considering the fact that IIT Kharagpur is situated in a small village in Midnapur dist some150 km away from Calcutta. In fact, reaching Karagpur (can only be reached by train) from different parts of the country continuous to be a hassle that nobody minds.
That brings up the question why IIT in Hyderabad? Why not Basara that has unanimous political support, or Vizag and vicinity that was short listed by Mr Joshi as well as Mr Anantha Krishnan commissions. Basara would have resulted 100% support from telanganites, the fact that Chukka Ramaih is still fuming over the decision, while Vizag would have got 100% support from Andhrites. Did YSR select Hyderabad for its neutrality? That brings the next question how is it neutral? Only YSR and his aides know the answer, an answer that gives some insight into the future of Hyderabad and Congress strategy for separation. Any thoughts? |
