Tamilnadu Assembly has taken decision to abolish CET, the common entrance test used to admit students to professional courses. The reason is that it is very hard on poor people and rural people with extra burden of one more test. I couldn’t agree more. There was a proposal in AP also to abolish our own common entrance test EAMCET. But it didn't carry much traction.

I ask the members here whether AP should also follow suite and abolish the MCET exam. In my opinion, the reason to abolish in AP are lot more pronounced than in Tamilnadu. First the exam became a huge commerical venture for many corporate houses who are basically pouching on students and parents. Second, most of the professional seats are left unfilled making the pass score for the exam ridiculously low invalidating the purpose of the exam. What do you think?

There are people who support EAMCET for reservations. EAMCET and counselling all these are for maintaining reservations only. EAMCET must be abolished because EAMCET is promoting unhealthy competition and forcing students to read restless and even resulting suicides of youngsters.

I've seen kids studying very hard spending 7am – 8 pm attending schools and tuitions 7 days a week. They don't get any time to reflect on what they absorbed each day. They have exams everyday. It is like they are trying to cram them with stuff. It is very sad to say that after 2 years of these rituals kids are hardly understanding the concepts commensurate with their hard work. I think going back to Intermediate is the most productive way of educating our kids and bring some sanity to this menace.
