People who do not believe any religion should not be called as atheists(nastikas). They should be called as materialists(bhoutika vadulu). Atheists(nastikas) do not believe gods, souls, reincarnation etc but they believe materialistic truths(bhoutika nijalu). In hindu religious books, it was written that people who do not believe any god are called as atheists(nastikas). In bible, it was written that people who do not worship god are called as atheists. Hindu fundamentalists say that atheists are ignorants and christian fundamentalists say that atheists are wicked people. Who are ignorants? Hindu fundamentalists do not agree that planets rahu and kethu does not exist. Christian fundamentalists do not agree with Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. In America, christian fundamentalists are demanding to remove texts about Darwin's theory of evolution from school books. In India, hindu fundamentalists introduced unscientific courses like astrology, vaasthu etc in universities and misusing knowledge centers(universities) for promotion of superstitions. In middle age, christian fundamentalists killed so many scientists who proposed theories against bible. Hindu fundamentalists used to run vedic schools and pollute brains of students with idealistic filth. India is backward in science now also. Criticising atheists as ignorants is very silly. People who disagree with scientific theories are real ignorants. Christian fundamentalists who killed so many scientists in middle age, christian bishops who supported fascists and nazis in the time of second world war etc etc are real wicked people. Christian fundamentalists need not say that atheists are wicked people because they commit severe sins that cannot be justified by people with minimum sense.

Do you know that Arya Bhatta, Brahma Gupta etc had ridiculed vedic preachings? In vedas, it was written that earth is bowl shaped. Arya Bhatta, Brahma Gupta etc said that earth is round. Teaching about invisible planets like rahu and kethu etc is very ridiculous in this modern era. Even Arya Bhatta, Brahma Gupta etc said that rahu and kethu does not exist and eclipses are caused by directions of sun, earth and moon. Still there are ignorants\innocents who believe that rahu and kethu gobble sun and moon and cause eclipses.

Maoist,

I don’t know where you get this info? You are way off on Aryabhtta. You represent as if World started with 1917 BS (Bolshevik) revolution. Lot more things happened in the world for long time, particularly in ancient India. Please take some pride in it.

Here is some info about Aryabhatta.

Excerpts from Space Today

Aryabhatta was born in 476 A.D. at Ashmaka in what today is the Indian state of Kerala. He was sent to the University of Nalanda as a boy to study astronomy. His Heliocentric theory of gravitation was one of the earliest and preceded Copernicus by a thousand years. In the 5th century, Aryabhatta was one of the earliest persons to support the theory that Earth is a sphere.

This is an excerpt from Net Fundmanetals.com

After completing his studies at the University of Nalanda, he wrote a book, Aryabhatiya in 499 AD. This book, written in verse, was the summary of Hindu mathematics up to that time. It covered astronomy, spherical trigonometry, arithmetic, algebra and plane trigonometry. Aryabhatta gave formulae for the areas of a triangle and a circle correctly, but the formulae for the volumes of a sphere and a pyramid given by him were wrong. His work was recognised as a masterpiece, and the then Gupta ruler, Buddhagupta, made him the Head of the University.
Aryabhatta was the first to deduce that the Earth is sphere and that it rotates on its own axis, creating day and night. He declared that the moon is dark and shines only because of sunlight. Solar and lunar eclipses, he believed , are caused by the shadows cast by the Earth and the moon.

He, however, believed in the geocentric concept of the universe that the Earth is the center of the universe.
In mathematics, Aryabhatta's contribution was equally valuable. He gave the value of pi as 3.1416 claiming, for the first time, that it was an approximation. He was the first mathematician to give what later came on to be called the 'table of the sines'.
