Environmental clearance given

Special Correspondent Hindu

HYDERABAD: The Centre has issued environmental clearance to three non-irrigation projects in and around Visakhapatnam.

The projects are Pharma City, Kailasgiri Ropeway and conversion of the Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam road into a four-lane one, Mallu Ravi, the State's representative at Delhi for Central clearances, said.

Post subject: Vizag already polluted. No more pollution to Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam is already polluted. You cannot get fresh air to breath around Gajuwaka and sorroundings. The city is already polluted. I don't understand the reason why all industries should be concentrated in one city. It is better to spread the development to other cities like Kakinada. It helps in protecting clean air. Otherwise fresh air will be a scare commodity in Visakhapatnam and will lead to cause diseases like TB etc.

Visakhaptnam city is already running out of resources to sustain population growth as new industries bring new problems. Already there is drinking water scarcity and there is always a rift between farmers and city about sharing of water from Raiwada and Thatipudi reserviors.

Still Polavaram project is completed, Visakhapatnam cannot meet the needs of new industries. Bad planning leads to lot of problems in future.

Already Vizag steel plant and Paravada thermal power station are generating high level of pollution. Instead of Vizag, pharmacity should be constructed at Vizianagaram or Srikakulam or some other town.

One singapore agglomeration has shown keen interest to start another pharma city besides JNPC near vizag. This aglomeration commands 18 pharma units in singapore, trying to bring all into the new site in vizag.
