It shud be made a must for men for this reason as posted in the other thread:

Men hav to wear the sacred thread tat denotes whether they r married or not.
Brahmacharis (bachelors) wear threads w/ 3 strands, after marriage they wear the thread w/ 6 strands.....
So this is fair enough for women (who r required to wear taali) as even the man wud hav to show tat he's married. Wink
