APSRTC is a white elephant to the public. Why? Who made it like that?
None else. All its employees are responsible for its present state. APSRTC is plagued with inefficiency, corruption, uncoperative attitude of its employees are the main reasons.
Now after failure of all venues, the Govt. is thinking of rehabilitating it. A report for its revival is to be prepared by IIM, Bangalore and is to be submitted within two months. I think there are no management consultants in Andhra Pradesh.
But, how long the GOVERNMENT(S) in India, run the buses, trains, ships and aeroplanes. No government has got any business to do business. In no other country government run buses, trains and aeroplanes. Whereever and whenever the government enters a business, that business house becomes a breeding center for corruption and inefficiency. Hence, our parliamentarians and legislators stop doing business in the name of the government, and invest more time for the development of the STATE.

Position of railways and airways is very much better than local road transport organisations. APS RTC is paying heavy taxes to government. Indian Railways is largest public sector organisation in India. But Indian Railways is not having any taxation. Indian Railways is using high speed diesel. There tax concession on high speed diesel sold to Indian Railways. For aeroplane turbine fuel also there is tax concession. Our rulers only made APS RTC bankrupt by their policies.

Long back APS RTC used to get high profits. In TDP rule only RTC started facing heavy losses. Chandra Babu planned to privatise APS RTC for repaying world bank loans. So he pushed APS RTC into losses by policies like increasing taxation, giving free passes certain categories of people etc. Now it is possible to change RTC as profit making organisation if government change those bankruptive policies on RTC.

Recently i went to Addateegala area in East Godavari district. In that area i saw some people travelling on top of the busses. There is no vacancy in side those busses. RTC is not running sufficient busses where it is necessary and in some areas they are running busses which run often half empty. Running hire busses is also reason for losses. Government did not permit RTC to purchase new busses and taking hire busses.
