Government should construct low level bridges on rivers in interior rural areas. Nowadays government is constructing metalled roads in interior rural areas by "Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna". But they are not thinking about matter of bridges. In the interior areas where river flow cuts road route and bridge is not available, people are ferrying on boats to cross the river. Cycles and motor cycles are also ferried on boats. There are also ferries where cars and jeeps are also ferried on mechanised boats. Generally constructing bridge on big rivers takes high cost. Constructing low level bridges take low cost. I have seen such bridges in Orissa and some parts of northern coastal Andhra. Bridges are more useful for people than ferries. So government should construct low level bridges replacing all the ferries.

I too agree with it. Low level bridges must be constructed in the areas where there is low traffic. In Srikakulam district, river Nagavaly is having only 4 bridges. 3 of them are located at Srikakulam town and one of them is located at village Sankili on Palakonda-Cheepurupalli road. One of the bridges in Srikakulam town is age old bridge constructed in year 1799. Heavy vehicles are restricted on that bridge. Bridge on Srikakulam bye pass road belong to National highways Authrority of India. There is also newly constructed bridge in Srikakulam town and it belongs to R&B department. National highways Authrority of India is constructing another bridge on byepass road as part of 4 laning of NH5 road. Sankili bridge on river Nagavaly was constructed for connecting revenue divisional headquarter Palakonda to Vizianagaram. In those days there was low level bridge at Sankili. They constructed high level bridge at Sankili. Old low level bridge was washed away by floods. People of many villages near river Nagavaly in Srikakulam district are still using boats to cross the river.

From long time there is demand to construct bridge between Sakhinetipalli lanka and Narasapur in border of East Godavari and West Godavari district. There is good traffic in that area. Even construction of high level bridge is justifiable in that place. But they are not ready to construct a low level bridge in that location.

Narasapur ferry is having huge boat that can carry cars and jeeps. But there are many ferries where only wooden boats are used. Ferrying on wooden boats in not so safe. If load is high in the boat, it may drown in water. For safety also constructing bridges is necessary.
