| The education fairs, conducted in several cities of our state, where students from different colleges attend to hear what different universities in United States can offer, are becoming very popular. It is very obvious the craze to go to US is very much alive. Most of the questions were related to job opportunities that different courses offer. It seems there is a huge information gap and lot of misinformation.
The main questions to the members are:
1.Given the current economic dynamics, does it matter anymore to go to US?
2.Is it beyond economics?
3.If somebody is still serious to go to US, what should they do ? Do they complete education in India and join companies that do work in US or Do they complete education in US and find jobs in US?
4. What will be the future trend? |

| Really a nice topic and here are my views:
1.Given the current economic dynamics, does it matter anymore to go to US?
With IIT, IIIT, IIMs etc available in India, i dont think it is really important to go to the US. Further, i think most of the US Universities are now looking towards Indian Universities for possible tie-ups
2.Is it beyond economics?
Thanks to Bank Loans, going for US for education and getting funded is very easy.
3.If somebody is still serious to go to US, what should they do ? Do they complete education in India and join companies that do work in US or Do they complete education in US and find jobs in US?
US Education - US Job is the preference. Most students who return back have to get localized education, guidance or coaching if they want to work back in India.
4. What will be the future trend?
Students continue to be crazy at US - for education or to spend some time away from home on a dream land. The craziness will continue. _________________ I like Tomorrow...

| IITians no longer prefer U.S. as job destination, says study
| Quote: | India, with its booming economy and opportunities galore, is now becoming a preferred job destination among graduates from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), who now no longer prefer to go to the U.S. or other developed countries searching for jobs or higher studies.
“It is well known that graduates from IIT, popularly known as IITians, have historically preferred to move to the U.S. or other countries to pursue higher studies and explore more attractive career opportunities. However, preferences have changed during the last few years,” says a recent study conducted by a leading global research and analytics’ firm, Evalueserve.
Prepared after a survey of 677 IITians, the study points out that among IITians, who graduated between 1964 and 2001, 35 per cent moved to countries other than India, while 65 per cent preferred to stay back. However, among IITians who graduated in 2002 and later, only 16 per cent went abroad, while 84 per cent remained in India. “Recent graduates also believe India will be the most promising geography for IIT graduates in 10 years,” it says. |

| True. I wonder what has changed so much but IITs now are not behind quick money, at least few of them. Are they teaching more of Philosophy, Spirituality and Social Responsibility a bit too much these days. No offenses, but that was please take the comment lite. _________________ I like Tomorrow...
