| City gears up for ODI
VIZAG: All arrangements for the successful conduct of Sri Lanka-India fourth and final one-day international cricket match to be held at the ACA-VDCA Stadium here on February 17 are nearing completion, said senior IAS officer and president of Andhra Cricket Association K.V. Rao at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Accomodation
Both Indian and Lankan teams will be accomodated in the TAJ Harbour view hotel on east side of the beach road.
Comfy zone
The capacity of stadium has been increased from about 20,000 to 30,000 and all stands have been provided permanent cover over them. The new facilities included an air-conditioned press box. The denomination of tickets for the match has been fixed at Rs.3,000, Rs.2,000, Rs.1,000, Rs.500 and Rs.200. The number of tickets to be sold to spectators was 20,000 and the sale would commence on February 9 for the two highest denominations and on February 14 for the rest, Mr. Rao said.
The sale would be through 85 counters of the 18 e-Seva Centres, all located in Vizag. There was no sale of tickets outside Vizag he clarified. The dos and don'ts for the spectators, a sketch of the stadium indicating the entry and exit points for each stand and other details would be printed on each ticket for the convenience of the spectators.
Tight security
While the Greater Vizag Municipal Corporation would provide drinking water (an estimated eight lakh sachets would be distributed free of cost) in all areas of the stadium, arrangements were being made to supply food through caterers. As a security measure, it was decided to collect a nominal fee for the vehicles of spectators parked in the parking areas. Though the elections to the GVMC were scheduled for February 19, sufficient police bandobust would be provided to the match to be played two days earlier.
The entire stadium premises would be covered by closed circuit television cameras. The number of tickets to be sold in each denomination is 1,540 (Rs.3,000), 2,800 (Rs.2,000), 4,500 (Rs. 1,000), 8,000 (Rs.500) and 7,000 (Rs.200). Traffic restrictions and other rules will be notified later. |

| | How much money does the local association makes out of the event assuming they sell full. The reason I'm asking is that city uses some of its resources to conduct the tournament, and I hope the city gets something out of it. Also, thank God, the fogg issue is resolved. Othewrise, it would be a fiasco. |

| | Capasity of the stadia has been increased from 21K to 32k. Permanent shelters and chairs have been provided in the stadia. VDCA would plug in good money and get the twice that money, fled lights, digital screens etc. In future the stadia capasity will be increased to 42K. |

| Hope these facilities would be sufficient enough to get more international matches at this venue...or else all the money and effort put on this stadium would get waste.
Let me add that tickets for the match are available at eSeva Centers at denominations starting Rs. 200 to Rs. 3000.. I really wonder who will but the Rs. 3000 ticket at the stadium. Any idea what special facilities will be available for them? _________________ I like Tomorrow...
