Someone please explain me the details of the "Ethipothala padakam".
The following questions may please be answered
1) what is this padakam all about?
2) when was it started?
3) who was the person or the government behind this initiative?
4) what does it basically deal with?
5) why does it keep coming in news every now and then?
I need this information as quickly as possible. I would be very glad if someone can quickly put in the valuable information.
Thanks

Sounds like you posted two of the similar postings at the same time, perhaps not knowing where you will get response. The best source, since you are in urgent mode, of answer would be further pursuing from the source you read the article. In that way you will find the meaning in the context you read.
Though there is no article on the web yet with the phrase "Ethipothala padakam" but there are articles associated with Ethipothala and or padakam. But in each case the context may not meet from you source you comeacross the phrase.
One of the links where Ethipothala involved is:

Perhaps others may know exactly what you are looking. |

Vinay,
It is nothing but lift irrigation system. Without doing some digging, I can't tell where it exactly started. In AP, it was done in telanagana with very limited success. What I heard is that it was successful in Austria- the primary reason why they were ready to sell their technology to AP. The other country that invested massively in LIS is Khazakistan. Although they spent more than $bill dollars, the success is very limited. |

The government started out to complete 8 projects in 2 years. Out of these 8 projects are the 3 projects which belong to Telangana. They are Devadula (1st phase), Alisagar and gutpa all 3 under Ethipothala padakam.
There are other 5 projects taken up under the same name in Andhra.
Under this Padhakam Telangana has been allotted a total of 1185 crores and Andhra projects have been allotted 4592 crores.
After completion the area its supposed to feed a new area of 1 lakh 23 thousand acres. And an additional 93000 acres would be streamlined.
The same project after completion of the 5 remaining Andhra projects would provide water to 11 lakhs 25 thousand acres to Andhra lands.
Now coming to the 5 year projects,
Telangana share is 9536 crores which will provide water to 15 lakhs 83 thousand acres.
Andhra share in the same category is 12439 crores and will provide water to 18 lakhs 13 thousand acres of new lands. In addition to this another 14 lakhs 31 thousand acres is to be streamlined.
Hope this helps though late. |
