| The recent report that the hill top road project is abandoned for lack of funds demands different approach to this wonderful tourist project. Right from the beginning the original project was ill-conceived. There was absolutely no need to have road on top of the hill to reach Simhachalam temple when you can reach the temple with relative ease from hanumathawaka via mudasarlova road. Also didn’t somebody (spiritual leader) objected to the idea of having a road higher than temple. In any case, quite correctly, the Simahachalam devsthanam is not interested in the road project.
However, leaving aside temple, there is absolutely wonderful potential for another park (like Kailasagiri) on the hill top with beautiful view of city lights and Sea, along with proposed 100 acres Ramayana park. So what VUDA needs to do is to create a road for 4-5 kms to reach the top and have the park, instead of the original 11 km road to the temple. The remaining 6-7 km can be a foot path/steps with lights like the Tirumala steps for any pilgrims to walk to the temple from the park. The project cost will be much less than the original Rs10 crores. I was told the road was already laid out with gravel but they need to pave it with asphalt. Also the park need not be built in one go, and can be developed slowly in phases like we did for Kailasagiri. I hope VUDA takes up this project. |

| Here is the satellite view of Simhachalam trail from Hanumathwaka. Instead of converting this to a road which is not going anywhere, GVMC/Simhachalam should convert this to a fully lighted walkway to Simhachalam temple very much like Tirumala walkway. This project doesn't cost much but it will be an instant success with beautiful views along the way. This will become another Kailasagiri like attraction.
