Karl Marx said that religion is pro-capitalist. It is true. Russia's past president Joseph Stalin was staunch atheist. Stalin used to believe religion when he was young. Before becoming atheist, he used to work in a religious body. He was expelled from that religious body for advocating socialism. After being expelled from religious organisation, Stalin joined bolshevik party that fought against capitalism and opposed Russian Orthodox Church. Christian fundamentalists attract poor people in India and convert them into christianity. Poor people who are embracing christianity get temperory benefits by money lured by christian missionaries. There is no much benefit by religious conversions. Hindu fundamentalists also neglect poor people and make costly jewels for stone idols with gold.

What about Catcholic Church and Protestant Church that supported fascists and nazis in the time of second word war? They are much oppressive than Orthodox Church.

Non-scientific sense(religion) is much interested in exploiting poor people. So, religion opposes socialism.
