| Hi out there,
Time to introduce myself.
My name is Leif Andersen, I'm danish, live and have always lived in Denmark. I'm almost 50.
However I have human interest in AP.
My in-laws are ethnic Indians from Fiji. They started to visit India in the 80's and was terrified by the state of the children. So they wanted to do something for at least some of them.
In 1995 they started to build a 'Children's Home' in West Godavari, they were financing the place and some locals which they had come to know, was in charge of the place.
The children call it a 'hostel' ... we don't like the name, it sounds more like an institution than a home.
My in-laws are getting older and I was invited to go with them to visit the children's home .. and I was captured by these hard studying children.
Since then I have visited AP several times.
Now it has been running for 9 years (it took awhile to finish the building), and the first of the children are now doing their second year at Junior College. An I am involved in their future studies, as we want to see these children or rather now young people through to a finished education.
So I was interested in what goes on in AP, specially West Godavari, where the Children's home is situated. And reading these forums have given me an insight into some of the ways of thinking in AP.
Regards Leif. _________________ This is my point of view, please don't confuse me with facts. |

| Hi Andharaammayi,
Thank you for the welcome
I really don't intent to participate too much, I'm here to learn about the people and the mentality of AP, but knowing myself I though I better register, since I will not be able NOT to comment from time to time.
I'm glad you feel it's a good work. Sometimes it can be a bit scary though!! Not everyone is friendly towards the work .... As I understand it, many locals don't like any foreigners interfering. I’ve been told there are some scary stories about 'foreigners' selling off children, using them for pornographic pictures or the people themselves being pedophiles, so I can understand people’s reservations and fears.
