| The other day the Union Health Minister Mr. A. Ramadoss said from October 2nd ' Smoking in films will be banned'
What happend to the ban on smoking in public places.
Nobody bothers about it.
The minister should know that once a facility is allowed to the public and is enjoyed by them for long time, and that facility cannot be withdrawn unilaterally.
The minister should also know what was the experience of various governments on various BANS. In the past, the AP and TN governments burned their fingers while banning the Alcohol. The governments lost the revenue by way of taxes, and people who wants to consume the liquor got it, of course for a higher price. In this way the traders and middlemen and also police are benefited. The ban on GUTKA. The product is available in the neighoring states freely and is being imported into the state and is sold at a higher price and is available freely.
There are several other social menaces in the country that are jeoparding the health of the public. Let the minister stop manufacturing of the tobacco and alcohol in the country. Then the ban may be effective. If the minister is so concerned about public health, let him take effective steps to preserve the health of the people. _________________ personally I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like to being taught..... |

| If they are really intrested in restricting smoking they would close all the cigarette and bidi factories. Cigarette, bidi and wine advertisements are painted on walls in every town. Just banning smoking scences will not show any result. _________________ In India rich people become more rich and poor people become more poor. | This is all a political stunt. Nothing will be done. They cannot close the tobacco related industries, nor they can stop production of tobacco. _________________ personally I am always ready to learn, although I do not always like to being taught..... |
