Sri Mukhalingam is one of the famous Hindu piligrimage centers in Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Jalamuru mandal in Srikakulam district. Sri Mukhalingam was also capital of ancient Kalinga. It is beatiful place located on banks of river Vamsadhara. Nearest Railway station to Sri Mukhalingam is Urlam. In Urlam only 3 pairs of passenger trains stop. People who go to Sri Mukhalingam mostly alight at Srikakulam Road railway station. Srikakulam Road railway station is located near Amudalavalasa. There are no direct busses from Amudalavalasa to Sri Mukhalingam. People go to Sri Mukhalingam by changing into another bus at Srikakulam. Some people of areas like Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram go to Sri Mukhalingam by car. RTC should run more busses to Sri Mukhalingam and also run direct busses Amudalavalasa to Sri Mukhalingam. So that people from other areas can easily go to Sri Mukhalingam.

RTC is running busses to Sri Mukhalingam from places like Srikakulam and Narasannapeta. There are no direct busses from Visakhapatnam to Sri Mukhalingam. They change busses at Srikakulam or go by car. RTC must improve bus facilities to Sri Mukhalingam.

In olden days Sri Mukhalingam was capital of kings of Kalinga. Now Sri Mukhalingam is just a village. There are no lodges in Sri Mukhalingam. People of other areas who visit Sri Mukhalingam board in lodges of Srikakulam or Narasannapeta. Transport facilities to Sri Mukhalingam from nearby towns should be improved.
